An exhibition of graphic art works by ASEAN artists is taking place in the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum, Hanoi.
Organised for the first time in Vietnam , the 11-day event is to mark the 40 th anniversary of the establishment of ASEAN (1967-2012). It also aims to strengthen mutual understanding and cooperative ties between ASEAN member nations.
On display are 130 works by 77 artists from nine ASEAN countries, which won awards in the ASEAN Graphic Arts Competition, launched by the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, embassies of ASEAN countries in Vietnam and the Vietnamese embassies in ASEAN nations.
According to Vi Kien Thanh, head of the Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibition Department of the Ministry, the competition received a positive response from graphic artists in the region, with submissions of 245 art works.
Thai artist Aonrudee PornChame’ with work entitled “the Movement of nature 2” won the first prize of the competition.
Vietnamese artist Pham Khac Quang with the work “Four districts” gained second prize along with a work by another artist from Thailand .
The exhibition will run until August 16.-VNA
