Hanoi (VNA) – Two talented Malaysian guest chefs from hotel Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur are in Hanoi to present their country’s diverse cuisine during the Malaysia Gastronomy Week.

The event, organised by Sheraton Hanoi Hotel in collaboration with the Embassy of Malaysia in Hanoi, aims to celebrate Malaysia’s National Day (August 31).

Malaysia has a gastronomic tradition that combines different cuisines, from its Asian neighbours such as China and India to Western countries like Portugal, the Netherlands and the UK.

This unique blend has formed a fascinating Malaysian cuisine with distinctive and familiar flavours.

During the gastronomy week, Hanoian gourmets will have a chance to enjoy Malaysian dishes prepared by Malaysian chefs Sazli Nazim Bin Ismail and Mohammad Wafit Bin Mahtar.

With more than 20 years of working in hospitality, chef Ismail twice won the "Most Outstanding Chef" at the Culinary Malaysia awards in 2007, 2013. His colleague, chef Mahtar won the iChef 2017 Gold Medal for "Innovative Breakfast".

Alongside tasty food, customers have enjoyed various performances from Malaysian artists on August 31 and September 1. The performances feature traditional dances, traditional instrumental performances and unique Teh Tarik blending art – also known as "Pulled Tea" by the Teh Tarik ambassador Norazlin Bin Mat Janus.

The Gastronomy Week includes a buffet lunch and dinner starting from 620,000 VND (30 USD)/person. The event runs until September 5 at Oven D’or Restaurant.-VNA
