The Vietnamese athlete ranked third after the qualification, earning 13.875 points to take her beam medal in the final.
Meanwhile, European champion Larisa Iordache won the title with 14,850 points. Iordache also won the floor and vault events.
This is the first world medal for the Hai Phong City girl, who previously won the world and Asian titles in the vault event.
This year, Thanh failed in her strong sport of vaulting, which saw her disqualified for the finals.
