The Prime Minister has just approved Hanoi’s transport plan for 2030 with a vision towards 2050, allowing the development of eight Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) routes citywide.
Major changes in the bus routes from the capital are to go into effect on January 2, said the deputy director of the city’s Transport Department, Ha Huy Quang. The changes are intended to reduce congestion.
Hanoi authorities are drawing up plans to set aside additional streets for pedestrians only to “lessen public dependency” on private vehicles, especially motorbikes.
