An exhibition displaying items and materials on Japanese culture and introducing Vietnam-Japan cultural exchange activities opened in the Vietnam National Museum of History in Hanoi on January 16.

The event was organised by the museum in conjunction with the General Department of Japanese Culture and the Kyushu National Museum.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Dang Thi Bich Lien underlined the significance of culture and exchanges in promoting the image of each country to international friends.

She stressed that the Vietnamese Party and State always pay special attention to create the best conditions to widely promote the country’s cultural heritages and expand cultural exchange and cooperation with Japan.

Events held in both countries in recent years have helped foster mutual understanding between the two people, strengthening the close ties and friendship between the two nations, said Lien, adding that the exhibition also helps Vietnamese citizens, especially young people, learn more about Japanese culture.

On display are 70 objects depicting Japan’s history and traditional culture as well as the trade history between Vietnam and Japan. They reflect different periods in Japan’s past as well as cultural exchanges between Japan and other countries.

On the occasion, the “Cool Japan Fukuoka” programme was also organised at the museum to introduce Vietnamese people to Japan’s modern culture exclusively for young people through cultural products manufactured by enterprises operating in Fukuoka prefecture.

The exhibition will last until March 9.-VNA
