The strategy also includes between 10 and 12 athletes competing in each of the next two Olympic Games and bringing home medals.
Post-2020 Olympic Games targets between 13 and 15 athletes winning at least one gold medal.
The city lists its 20 sports with strong showings, athletics, aquatic sports, weightlifting, taekwondo, wrestling, shooting, karatedo, table tennis, gymnastics, fencing, archery, rowing, canoeing & kayak, cycling, judo, women’s boxing, badminton, wushu, sepak takraw and football.
The city hopes that its athletes will make up about one-third of all Vietnamese athletes at the 18 th Asian Games and win at least two gold medals.
At the Southeast Asian Games, the city’s athletes aims for around 30 percent of all gold medals won, helping the country stand firmly in the top three.
