A spring festival featuring cultural, musical and sporting activities opened in Hanoi on December 30 to welcome the New Year.
The event is jointly organised by the municipal People’s Committee and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Activities include performances by strolling blind artists – a northern singing tradition, ceremonial songs, as well as folk and lion dances.
Visitors will also have an opportunity to attend a fine art exhibition with 40 pavilions showcasing handicrafts that include lacquer paintings, bamboo and rattan products.
Organised by city authorities, the festival will bring a warm and happy New Year to locals and visitors. The event will run until January 1.-VNA
