Hanoi plans to take various actions from now until 2025 to implement the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) initiatives to raise public awareness of the capital’s commitments to the network.

Hanoi (VNA) – Hanoi plans to take various actions fromnow until 2025 to implement the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN)initiatives to raise public awareness of the capital’s commitments to thenetwork.

Municipal authorities will introduce three initiatives locally and threeothers internationally.

The local initiatives will include building the Hanoicreative design centre, developing and supporting creative spaces in Hanoi, andproducing a TV show for creative talents. The creative design centre, to be locatedat the Hanoi Museum, aims to nurture talented creative designers, support potentialcreative projects, and promote international cooperation in the field.

The municipal Department of Culture and Sports will be taskedto organise a number of training and capacity building courses for young designers, and assist community projects and encourage the participation of women, childrenand vulnerable groups in creative design projects.

The city will also host the Hanoi creative design festival anda UCCN forum in Southeast Asia, and develop a network for young creativedesigners as part of the international initiatives.

The Hanoi creative design festival will become an annualevent for honouring innovations in creative designs domestically andinternationally.

Aiming to becoming a capital of creativity, Hanoi will try toengage local young people in various creative projects, particularly forpreservation and restoration of cultural heritages and traditional craftvillages and for supporting local creative spaces. /.

A festival of this scale can provide more performance opportunities while enabling Vietnamese and international musicians and artists from different generations to meet, learn and connect. It can also bring jazz closer to audiences who may regard it as difficult to appreciate or suited only to a niche audience.
