Hanoi (VNA) - Hanoi FC still had a 2-0 win against Becamex Binh Duong, thanks to Hoang Vu Samson’s brace, to win the 2018 Vietnamese National Football Super Cup at Hanoi’s Hang Day Stadium on February 16.

This is the second time the squad has lifted the trophy.

In the 9th minute, Hanoi opened the score thanks to Hoang Vu Samson's superb header. National player Duc Huy launched an attack on the right wing, then the ball was delivered to Pape Omar and the player’s pass was perfect to help Samson make a header, beating goalkeeper Tan Truong to scoring for the reigning V.League 1 champions.

In 20th minute, Binh Duong were capable to create their first notable chance since the beginning of the match. From a corner kick, striker Anh Duc made a header. Keeper Van Cong stood still, but the ball hit the outside edge of the pole and went out.

The last minute of the first half became exciting with continuous attacks from both sides, but Samson missed two golden chances to double the lead for his home team, while Ho Sy Giap also sent the ball widely from a rebound to miss a golden opportunity to level the scoring for Binh Duong before the first half ended.

In the second half, Binh Duong pulled out striker Anh Duc, while Hanoi, in contrast, fielded into striker Van Quyet, former national captain, with determination to have more goals. The home team almost controlled the game as Binh Duong did not play actively.

In the 62nd minute, immediately after entering the field, Van Quyet left a mark when sending the ball for Ngan Van Dai to run on the right wing, before passing to Samson to easily net in the ball into the near post, doubling the scoring for Hanoi.

The 2-0 lead helped Hanoi slow down the game speed in the remaining minutes. Binh Duong strengthened attacks but their efforts did not pay off as the match ended with the 2-0 score in favour of Hanoi. - VNA
