The hazy conditions and poor air quality in Singapore have further deteriorated as an even denser haze from Indonesia has blown in, said Singapore's National Environment Agency (NEA) on September 24.

As of 11 am (local time) the same day, the three-hour pollutant standard index in Singapore rose to 244, a level harmful to health, particularly in the south.

The NEA said the conditions are persisting with prevailing winds expected to blow from the south-southeast or south-southwest.

Considering the air quality forecast for the next 24 hours, the NEA has issued an advisory that healthy persons should avoid prolonged or strenuous outdoor physical exertion. The elderly, pregnant women and children should minimise outdoor activity while those with chronic lung or heart disease should avoid going out.-VNA
