HCMCity (VNA) – The HCM City Department of Industry and Trade joinedhands with the Ho Chi Minh City Export Processing and Industrial Zone Authorityand the management board of the Saigon Hi-tech Park to connect support industrysuppliers at a festival in Ho Chi Minh City on March 14. 

Theevent attracted 17 foreign firms operating in electronics, automobiles, lorryand mechanical engineering and 80 domestic support industry manufacturers.

Speakingat the event, Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Industry and TradeNguyen Phuong Dong said networking will help participating firms improvecompetitiveness and increase local contents in locally-made products.

Underthe corporate demand stimulation policy, the department received 12 projects onbuilding workshops and investing in modern equipment at a total cost of nearly800 billion VND (35.5 million USD).

Hesaid the department vows to work closely with agencies concerned to supportpersonnel training, particularly managerial staff, follow mechanisms andpolicies of the government and Ho Chi Minh City to guide enterprises how torenovate manufacturing, enhance output and expand markets.

NguyenQuoc Anh, Chairman of the municipal Rubber Plastic Manufacturers’ Association,said there are a number of policies to support start-ups such as demandstimulation and technological adoption.

Inthe field of plastics and rubber, the rate of locally-made plastics and rubberused in motorbikes and trucks reached 100 percent and 30 – 40 percent,respectively.

Theevent is expected to help industrial manufacturers and support industry suppliersaccess domestic and foreign markets and gradually join in the global supplychain.-VNA
