HCMCity (VNA) – Chairman of the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City NguyenThanh Phong received leaders of three central Lao provinces – Savannakhet, Bolykhamsay and Khammouane – on July 18.

Atthe meeting, Phong said a conference on promoting trade and tourism investmentin the Lao localities scheduled for July 19 in the city reflects interests ofsides involved in stepping up their practical cooperation.

Hesaid the event is held in the context of the two countries celebrating the 55thanniversary of diplomatic relations and 40 years of signing their Treaty ofAmity and Cooperation.

HoChi Minh City appreciates the Lao President’s first-class labour order and iscommitted to doing its utmost to foster the two countries’ comprehensivepartnership, Phong stated.

Onbehalf of the Lao provincial leaders, Savannakhet governor Santiphap Phomvihanethanked assistance from the southern economic hub towards the Lao provinces inpreparation for their upcoming trade promotion conference.

Thesupport would contribute to strengthening engagements and friendship among thefour localities, he added.

Healso lauded activities organised by Ho Chi Minh City in celebration of the twocountries’ major events this year.-VNA

Ministry proposes seven-day 2027 Lunar New Year holiday

Under the Ministry of Home Affairs' proposal, civil servants and public employees in Vietnam would receive five statutory days off, including two days before and three days after the Lunar New Year.
