The sixth Asian Billiards Championships got underway in Ho Chi Minh City, on July 4.
The event has attracted 30 players from six countries, including Japan, the Republic of Korea, China, Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam.
The carom 1-cushion event was held on the afternoon of July 4, with the semi-final and final continuing the next day.
The carom 3-cushion category will be contested over July 6-8.
This is a very important tournament, as Asia’s best players will be selected to take part in the World Billiards Championships, which will take place in Porto, Portugal in September.
At the opening ceremony, billiards fans had the chance to enjoy a performance from the legendary Turkish player Semih Sayginer, who was crowned world champion in 1992 and 1998 was voted best billiards player in the world in 2003 and was honoured as one of Turkey’s sporting legends.-VNA
