HCM City makes investment call in Tet gathering

Ho Chi Minh City will boost calling for both domestic and foreign investment and continue social welfare policies in the new year, Deputy Chairman of the city People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Tai told foreign diplomats on Feb. 9.

Tai made the remarks at a meeting with the diplomatic corps in the city in celebration of Vietnam ’s traditional Tet holiday.

Addressing the ceremony, HCM City People’s Committee Chairman Le Hoang Quan thanked representatives of foreign diplomatic missions for their cooperation with the city, which helped promote international links between the city and other countries.

He called for their continued support for Vietnam in general when it takes over the position of ASEAN Chairman this year and for Ho Chi Minh City in particular as the city will host a number of important events.

US Consul General Kenneth Fairfax said the assistance provided by HCM City authorities has helped the diplomatic corps fulfill their mission of promoting friendship and cooperation among countries. He praised HCM City ’s recent developments, saying that new construction works such as Phu My and Thu Thiem bridges have made the city become more attractive in all areas, investment, trade and tourism./.
