Hanoi (VNA) - The Ho Chi Minh City Ballet Symphony Orchestra and Opera (HBSO) will present a classical music concert, featuring works by great composers Pyotr Tchaikovsky and Richard Strauss at the Saigon Opera House on June 29 night.
The concert, led by Vietnamese conductor Le Phi Phi, will see the performance of two HBSO solists, namely soprano Pham Khanh Ngoc and clarinetist Hoang Ngoc Anh Quan.
The concert will begin with “Festmarsch” in Es-Dur for Orchestra, op.1. It was performed for the first time when Strauss was 16 years old. It will be followed by "Romance for clarinet and orchestra" performed by clarinetist Quan, and “Four Last Songs” by soprano Ngoc.
Closing the music journey, audiences will be treated with Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 4.
Born in Hanoi, Phi graduated from the Vietnam National Academy of Music and the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatoire with degrees in piano and orchestra conducting.
After graduation, he became the permanent conductor of the Macedonian Philharmonic Orchestra from 1993 to 2000. He has also conducted numerous concerts around the world./.
