The tournament is expected to attract more than 200martial artists, including 76 women, from the Republic of Korea ,Thailand , Malaysia , Singapore , Taiwan , France , Monaco andVietnam , who will compete in 16 fighting events (including eight forwomen) and 20 events for young fighters.
The hostcountry will send 78 martial artists, divided into three teams – thenational squad, the Ho Chi Minh City team and a team of players fromcentral provinces .
The tournament will provide anexcellent chance for Vietnam to prepare for the forthcoming 2010 AsianGames in Guangzhou , China .
After the VietnamOpen, HCM City will also host the 2nd Asian International TaekwondoFederation (ITF) Championships from July 23-25, expected to draw 80martial artists from Japan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, New Zealand, India,Indonesia, China, Afghanistan, Nepal and Vietnam.
Theartists will compete in 12 performance and 10 fighting events.
To prepare for the tournament, the Vietnamese team is currently beingtrained by Mariusz Steckiewicz, an ITF expert from Poland./.
