A large Intel chipset factory located in the Ho Chi Minh City High-tech Park will officially start operations in May and export its first products in July.
At a press conference on April 15, Le Thai Hy, Head of the Park’s Management Board, said the factory will turn out 120 million USD worth of chipsets this year and then gradually increase its production value up to 15 billion USD/year.
Along with the Intel factory, there will be 23 other projects starting operations this year, Hy added.
According to Hy, the businesses in his park grossed 1.1 billion USD in revenues last year, of which 98 percent was from exports.
By the end of last year, the park had invested more than 2.9 trillion VND in land clearance and 508 billion VND in resettlement for local inhabitants, he said./.
