Helicopter loses contact in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province

Hanoi (VNA) – A chopper of the Vietnam Helicopter Corporation lost contact on October 18 morning during a flight training session in the northwest of Dinh Mountain in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province.

The helicopter, coded 8632EC130T2, belongs to the corporation’s training centre based in the southern province.

It began the training session at 7:40am but disappeared from radar at 8:03am, when it was in the northwest of Dinh Mountain, about 25km from Vung Tau airport.

There were three people on board at that time, including an instructor and two trainees.

Forces are being deployed to search for the helicopter and the missing.

After receiving information on the accident, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc asked the Ministry of Defence to mobilise all sources to search and rescue the three victims while inspecting the reason, and reviewing and checking all flight commanding and operating processes.

The National Committee for Search and Rescue and the Ba Ria-Vung Tau provincial People’s Committee were also asked to coordinate with the Ministry of Defence to instruct relevant agencies to implement search and rescue work and remedy the accident’s consequences without delay.-VNA
