Ho Chi Minh City ranked first on the medal tally at the national sport gathering for disabled athletes - ParaGames 2013 which closed in Hanoi on July 28 after four days of competing.

The HCM City team won a total of 307 gold, 200 silver and 110 bronze medals. The second place belonged to Hanoi with 173 gold, 74 silver and 41 bronze medals. The central province of Quang Tri was in the third place with 19 golds, 27 silvers and 19 bronzes.

The event saw several regional and national records broken. Do Thanh Hai and Bui Van Den set a new Asian record in 50m breaststroke swimming, while 13 athletes set new national weight lifting records.

Vice president of the Vietnam Paralympic Assosiation Vu The Phiet said based on the results of the event, 150 excellent athletes will be selected to compete in the upcoming 7 th ASEAN Paragames in Myanmar in June next year.-VNA
