Ho Chi Minh’s prison diary on display in RoK

A calligraphy exhibition featuring excerpts from late President Ho Chi Minh’s Prison Diary, opened on April 9 at the Suncheon National University’s museum, in the south Jeolla province in the Republic of Korea.

On display at the event, which marks theanniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s 122 nd birthday, were 45calligraphic works by 23 calligraphers from Gwangju and south Jeollaprovinces.

Addressing the event, the Rector of theUniversity, Song Yeong-moo, said the exhibition is taking place at thesame time as the two countries are celebrating the 20 th anniversary oftheir diplomatic ties and preparing for the 2012 Vietnam-RoK FriendshipYear.

He expressed his hopes that the exhibitionwill help the students and local people understand more about PresidentHo Chi Minh’s life and Vietnam ’s revolutionary cause.

According to Vietnam ’s Ambassador Tran Trong Toan, the Prison Diarywas first translated from Vietnamese to Korean for the first time in2003 and made a huge contribution to helping Korean people understandmore about Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh.

The exhibition, which will run until April 25, once again expressedKorean people’s interest in and respect for President Ho Chi Minh, hesaid.

He also expressed his hope that the event will help consolidate Vietnam-RoK friendship and strategic cooperation.

Accordingto the organising board, all the works of art will be transferred totwo RoK cultural centres in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City and put ondisplay to mark Uncle Ho’s birthday on May 19.-VNA

The complex comprises three main structures: the Chinh (Main) Tower, Cong (Gate)Tower and Lua (Fire) Tower. The Main Tower stands about 20.5 metres tall, featuring a square base and tiered roofs that narrow towards the top. The Fire Tower, with its distinctive boat-shaped curved roof, adds a contrasting feature to the ensemble. Columns, niches, lotus motifs and decorative patterns adorn the brick walls.

On the morning of October 10, a ceremony was held at Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square in Hanoi to launch a nationwide campaign encouraging regular physical exercise under the message “Everyone should choose at least one suitable sport to practise regularly”. From Berlin, the Vietnamese guitar fosters cultural connections to global community

This year, 30 contestants from 15 countries entered the competition, with five finalists set to compete on October 10 at Ballhaus Prinzenallee in Berlin. The programme also includes a gala concert, masterclasses and a guitar exhibition. Hanoi launches project to build cultural industry hub in Old Quarter

The project, covering about 3,862sqm. at 17 Nguyen Thien Thuat and 40 Thanh Ha, includes around 2,317sqm. of construction area. It will renovate existing structures, improve architecture and landscaping, upgrade technical infrastructure and create spaces for cultural, artistic and creative activities.
