Hue Festival 2018 slated for late April

The 10th Hue Festival will take place from April 27 to May 2, according to Chairman of the People’s Committee of the central province of Thua Thien-Hue Nguyen Van Cao.

Thua Thien-Hue (VNA) – The 10th Hue Festival will take place from April 27 to May2, according to Chairman of the People’s Committee of the central province ofThua Thien-Hue Nguyen Van Cao.

Themed “Cultural heritage withintegration and development, Hue - one destination five heritages,” the biennial event aims to promote art exchanges among cultures andintroducing unique values of the culture of Vietnam and Hue, thus boostingservice-tourism growth and strengthening socio-economic development of ThuaThien-Hue.

So far, the HueFestival 2018 has attracted more than 20 international art troupes from variouscountries, including France, the Republic of Korea, Israel, Mongolia, Japan,Thailand, Russia, China and Spain.

Theold capital city of Hue owns five UNESCO heritages, including Hue Complex ofMonuments, Hue Royal Court Music, Woodblocks of Nguyen Dynasty (1802-1945),Nguyen Dynasty's royal documents and the royal literature on Hue royalarchitecture.

This year, theprovince hopes to welcome about 4.2 million visitors, up 10 percent year onyear, and earn tourism revenue of 4.2 billion VND, a rise of 15 percent.

According to PhanThanh Hai, Director of the Hue Monuments Conservation Centre, this year, manyrestoration projects will be implemented, including those on Kien Trung Palace,the wall system of the Forbidden City, and Tu Duc Tomb.-VNA
