Officials from parliaments of Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam have agreed to enhance cooperation between legislative bodies at their first triangle development conference in Phnom Penh.
They reached a consensus on maintaining the connection between three countries and other partners to spur the growth of the Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam triangle development area in a memorandum of understanding signed at the end of the two-day conference on July 17.
The MoU highlighted the importance of the triangle development area for security and peace while emphasising the sharing of information and experience and the tripartite cooperation.
It also stressed the responsibility of the three countries’ authorities in combating transnational crimes, human and drug trafficking, and implementing bilateral and multilateral links to facilitate the exchange of goods in the area.
Participants agreed to convene the second conference in 2015 in Laos.
On July 16, they were received by Cambodian National Assembly Chairman Heng Samrin.-VNA
