Jakarta (VNA) - Climate Change Control Director General at Indonesia's Environment and Forestry Ministry Laksmi Dhewanthi on April 3 asked provincial as well as district and city authorities to synergise and collaborate to execute environmental protection at the grassroots level.
According to minister, the importance of collaboration lies in the fact that the climate change target encompasses several sectors across different government institutions.
She affirmed that the regional authorities play an important role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving climate resiliency.
Earlier, Environment and Forestry Minister Siti Nurbaya Bakar also encouraged the use of environmental funding that reached over 15 trillion IDR (1 billion USD) in the Environmental Fund Management Agency (BPDLH).
The fund can address the regional authorities' problem concerning the lack of such funding allocated within the regional budget./.
