Jakarta (VNA) - Indonesian Presidential special staff for social affairs Angkie Yudistia on September 30 accentuated the continuity of the government's commitment to improving accessibility for people with disabilities.
Accordingly, the Indonesian government has issued a regulation on fulfillment of the rights of people with disabilities.
One of the aspects regulated in the regulation is maximising the accessibility of buildings owned by the government and private parties, Angkie said.
She also highlighted the government's policy for civil servant recruitment for people with disabilities, explaining that the government has set a minimum quota of 1% for disabled people in the private sector and 2% in state-run enterprises and government agencies.
"We are calling for synergy among relevant ministries, especially the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing, to ensure buildings are built by paying attention to the needs of people with disabilities in various types," she remarked.
Angkie expressed her hope that more people with disabilities will be employed in ministries and regional governments so as to create an inclusive workplace; and that the private sector and state-run enterprises can also participate actively in this./.
