Hanoi (VNA) – Indonesian Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Susi Pudjiastuti announced on October 20 that the country will sink dozens of foreign vessels conducting illegal fishing activities in its waters.
The ministry will sink around 90 illegal fishing boats this year, she said, adding that Indonesia will pursue the boats stealing fish in its waters.
So far this year, the ministry has sunk a total of 110 illegal fishing boats, raising the total figure to 317 since the fight against illegal fishing activities was launched 2014.
Indonesia boasts around 17,500 islands with huge marine resources.-VNA
