Hanoi (VNA) - The death toll from a flash flood in Indonesia’s South Sulawesiprovince rose to 21 on July 15, with two people still missing, an official said.
National Disaster MitigationAgency spokesman Raditya Jati said search and rescue operations were hamperedby thick mud covering roads and houses, and rain was continuing to fall, APreported.
Ten other people were injured inthe flooding, which affected six subdistricts in the province, he said. As of July 15 evening, 2,650 people had been evacuated.
North Luwu district’s official Indah Putri Indriani said the flooding began on July13 evening and was triggered byheavy rains that caused three rivers to overflow.
