The ruling Democratic Party (DP) is willing to accept any results of the country’s upcoming legislative and presidential elections, which are slated for April and July, Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has said.
At a recent meeting of DP officials to discuss issues related to election campaigns, Yudhoyono, who is DP Chairman, stressed that his party will not enter into alliance at any cost with other political parties so as to reach victory in the elections.
He added that the DP is willing to fulfil tasks as an opposition party for national interest.
Election campaigns of political parties in Indonesia will begin on March 16 and last until April 5.
In another related move, Yudhoyono called on all parties concerned to unite to maintain and protect the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity while speaking at a meeting of the Policy Committee for Defense Industry (KKIP) in East Java on March 12.-VNA
