Indonesia’s proposal on the adoption of its crude palm oil and rubber in the APEC Environmental Good List was rejected at the APEC Senior Official Meeting(SOM) on 1-2 October in Bali island.
Indonesia will continue its efforts to include its crude palm oil and rubber products in the GE list by earlier next year, Director General of International Trade Department under the Indonesian Trade Ministry Imam Pambagyo said after a meeting for senior officials of APEC.
Several APEC member countries have not approved the Indonesia’s proposal because they need to consult with their ministries at home before making final decision, added the Indonesian Director General.
In September 2012, leaders and representatives from 21 APEC member countries approved a list of 54 environmentally friendly goods at their summit in Vladivostok, Russia. Products in the GE list will enjoy tax break up to 5 percent by 2015.-VNA
