Indonesia: four injured in Bali earthquake

At least four people were injured and dozens of houses, temples, schools and offices were damaged in a 6.4-magnitude earthquake that hit the Indonesian resort island of Bali on March 22.

Hanoi (VNA) – At least four people, including three children, were injured and dozens of houses, temples, schools and offices were damaged in a 6.4-magnitude earthquake that hit the Indonesian resort island of Bali on March 22.

According to the Indonesian National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), the injured were transported to nearby hospitals.

The quake affected Denpasar city, and the districts of Jembrana, Klungkung, Tabanan, Bangli, Gianyar and Karang Asem.

Previously, at around 6:10 am on March 22 (local time), the quake hit Bali island at a depth of 117 kilometres, 23 kilometres southeast of Denpasar city.

Indonesian authorities said there was no tsunami warning because the epicenter was so deep.

Indonesia is prone to earthquake and volcano eruption due to its location on the so-called Pacific Ring of Fire.-VNA
