Hanoi (VNA) - Indonesiaon July 3 imposed a partial lockdown in Jakarta, across the mainisland of Java and on Bali as the Southeast Asian nation grapples with anunprecedented wave of coronavirus infections.
Mosques, restaurants and shopping malls were closed in virushotspots around the Muslim-majority country.
However, often jammed publictransport is still allowed to continue operating at a reduced capacity, while domestic sea, airand bus travel will be available for people who have received at least onevaccine dose.
The new measures, announced by Indonesian President JokoWidodo, will last until July 20 in a hope of bringing daily infections to below10,000.
Earlier on July 2, Indonesia posted record new infections anddeaths related to the disease, bringing the totals to nearly 2.2 million and59,534, respectively./.
