Jakarta (VNA) - Indonesia and Iran will bolster cooperation in energy, including oil and gas, and in renewable energy development, the Antara Agency quoted Indonesian Minister of Energy and Minerals Sudirmad Said.

According to the minister, the lifting of international economic sanctions on the Gulf state will open up enormous bilateral trade opportunities including the chance to take part in Iranian energy projects on petrochemical, electricity and renewable plants.

So far no projects have been developed by Iran and Indonesia together, he added

Indonesia is particularly interested in Iran’s development of a Liquefied Petroleum Gas plant (LPG) which currently can produce up to 51 million tonnes a year.

Iran was also evaluated as a potential market to Indonesian investors to venture into the fertilizer industry in Iran’s southern region bordering Pakistan.

In order to strengthen bilateral cooperation, a delegation of Iranian energy is scheduled to visit Indonesia in February to seek business opportunities.-VNA
