Indonesia has announced it will not import any more rice now that its output is enough for domestic demand.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture Rusman Heriwan said the country’s rice output is estimated to rise by 0.35 percent hitting 34 million tonnes this year. Meanwhile, its output of paddy will reach an estimated 76 million tonnes.
At the same time, the country has almost completed its target to buy 3.7 million tonnes of rice from its farmers before the year’s end to ensure stocks, according to the Indonesian Bureau of Logistics (Bulog).
