Indonesia: PDIP to name presidential candidates in April

The Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), the largest opposition party in Indonesia, will name its presidential nominees in April, after the legislative elections.

According to Secretary General of the PDIP Executive Board Tjahjo Kumolo, 12 national political parties and three local ones of Aceh province will participate in the legislative and presidential elections, which are slated for April and July, respectively.

He said his party agreed to give PDIP Chairwoman Megawati Soekarnoputri and Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo the privilege on the selection of presidential and vice presidential nominees.

However, he added that the party will be very careful in making a decision on the nation’s future leader.-VNA
