Indonesia puts interest rates on hold

The Bank of Indonesia fixed its benchmark interest rate at 7.5 percent for the fifth consecutive month on July 14.

Its lending facility and deposit facility rate were also left unchanged at 8 percent and 5.5 percent, respectively.

The decision is part of ongoing efforts to keep inflation within 3-5 percent in 2015 and 2016.

Indonesia has reported an increase in its inflation rate, which stood at 7.3 percent in June, up from 7.2 percent in May.-VNA
