Jakarta (VNA) – Indonesian President Joko Widodo has urged the House of Representatives to soon finalise the Asset Forfeiture Bill, saying it will support the handling of corruption cases in the country.

Deliberations on the bill are still on in the parliament, according to the President.

The Asset Forfeiture Law will make the prosecution of corruption cases easier and serve as a legal umbrella for the authority to confiscate corruptors' assets, he said.

Earlier, during a joint hearing with Commission III of the House, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs, Mahfud MD, also called on legislators to pass the bill.

Mahfud said that the bill would enable the handling of alleged irregular transactions worth 349 trillion IDR (about 5.2 billion USD) at the Ministry of Finance./.
