The 28th Trade Expo-Indonesia 2013 opened in Jakarta on October 17, targeting deals worth 2 billion USD.
The biggest annual fair in Indonesia, which attracted more than 1,300 businesses from as many as 105 countries, aims to promote export products of Indonesia as well as the participants, opening up chances for domestic and foreign businesses to seek new contracts.
Products showcased at the fair range widely, from foodstuff, beverages, farm produce, garments and textiles to vehicle components, electronics and construction materials, with the highest proportion being handicrafts, accounting for 22 percent, and furniture, 20 percent.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Indonesian Minister of Trade Gita Wirjawan said the trade show helps affirm his country’s increasing prestige in the international trade arena as a dynamic and competitive market.-VNA
