Indonesia victorious at ASEAN futsal tourney

The Indonesia humiliated Malaysia 5-0 in the finals at the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Futsal (indoor football) Championships 2010, which wrapped up on April 11 in HCM City.

Jaelani Ladjanibi opened the score in the first half while Vennard Hutabarat, Deny Handoyo, Socrates Matulessy and Ali Haidar added four goals in the second half to give Indonesia its second thumping victory over Malaysia . Previously, in the preliminary stage, Indonesia also demolished Malaysia 6-0.

The triumph made Indonesia the second country ever to win a title at the AFF Futsal Championships after Southeast Asia powerhouse Thailand who won all seven previous tournaments.

Thailand did not take part in this year's competition.

Malaysia ranked second and Vietnam finished third. Indonesia was also awarded the fair play prize.

The tournament kicked off on April 4 with the participation of five countries in the region – Indonesia , Malaysia , the Philippines , Myanmar and host Vietnam./.
