Indonesian police force said they were ready to provide security for thepresidential election which would be held July 9, VNA correspondent inJakarta reported.
The National Policeoperational-assistance chief, Insp. Gen. Arif Wachyunadi said on July 4that they would start deploying personnel to polling stations on July 5,the last day of the open campaign period.
Arif said all police personnel must be at their stations by July 8 and stay there until July 9.
"The police must secure ballot papers and boxes for 24 hours, until all the supporting materials are moved," he said.
Previously,National Police chief Gen. Sutarman said the police would deploy254,088 personnel to provide security during the election and wouldreceive assistance from 9,000 personnel from military force and civiliancommunity guards.
Of that number, 30,000 police personnel will be sent to safeguard the capital before, during and after the election.-VNA
