Illustrative image (Photo: RNZ) Hanoi (VNA) - Indonesian President Joko Widodo stated on October 5 that theIndonesian military (TNI) has built new combat organisations counting a numberof joint commands, divisions and task forces within the last five years.
Speaking at aceremony marking the TNI’s 75th anniversary, Widodo said the new dual battledivisions comprise Division III of the Army's Strategic Reserves Command, theAir Force's Operation Command III, the Navy's Armada III and the third MarineForce.
The leader indicated that the TNI has also setup new joint forces, namely three Joint Regional Defense Commands,three Air Force Drone Squadrons and a TNI's Cyber Force.
He stressed that the establishment of the neworganisations constitutes the government's commitment to keeping transformingthe TNI in order to strongly play its role.
The TNI's transformation should be supported by the latesttechnology and development of personnel who would deal with the technology, hesaid, adding that the military technology has been developing quickly, and thiswould influence war tactics and strategies in the future, he added./.
