Indonesian, Singaporean firms sign 9-bln-USD deal on green electricity

Jakarta (VNA) - PT Marubeni Global Indonesia has inked a memorandumof understanding (MoU) with Singapore’s Tuas Power to export green electricityto the city state.

The 9-billion-USD deal was signed on the sidelines of the ongoing SingaporeInternational Energy Week, which runs until the end of October 27.

Tuas Power, a subsidiary of China’s Huaneng PowerInternational, will purchase electricity from a solar farm on Batam Island,Riau Islands province, of Marubeni Global Indonesia, a subsidiary of WirarajaGroup.

The project has a maximum capacity of 4.1GWp, plus an additional 10 GWp stored in battery energy storage systems (BESS).

Managing Director of PT Marubeni Global Indonesia TjawHioeng said this is an important step forward in the development ofrenewable energy, as it emphasises the parties' commitment to enhancinglong-term energy security, reducing emissions and promoting a healthierenvironment for both Indonesia and Singapore through environmentally friendlypower sources./.
