Indonesia’s economic competitiveness remains low

The Indonesian Researchers and Scientist Society (MIPI) has said Indonesia ’s competitiveness is still low to enable it to achieve sustainable growth.
The Indonesian Researchers and Scientist Society (MIPI) has saidIndonesia ’s competitiveness is still low to enable it to achievesustainable growth.

According to the GlobalCompetitiveness Report 2013-2014 of the World Economic Forum (WEF),Indonesia ranked 38 th of 148 countries surveyed.

Indonesian competitiveness has lagged behind many ASEAN membercountries, especially Singapore which ranked second in the world interms of competitiveness.

Switzerland led the ranking as the most competitive economy for the fifth consecutive year, according to WEF report.

MIPI said the Indonesian government, particularly a new governmentafter the 2014 polls, must seek a model for comprehensive development ofthe human resources in order to increase the nation’scompetitiveness.-VNA
