Earlier, the National Power Company and theIndonesia Investment Authority in December 2023 signed an agreement to soon stopthe operation of this plant. The agreement was signed to fulfill Indonesia'scommitment at the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United NationsFramework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) to achieve net-zero emissions by2060.
Cirebon-1 will end its power supply obligations in December 2035, instead ofJuly 2042 as originally planned. This is an important development inIndonesia's energy transition, helping to significantly reduce greenhouse gasemissions.
Since its operation, this firstunit has produced 5 TWh of electricity per year, which is transmitted via theJava-Madura-Bali connection system. The power produced by the plant has been supplied to West Java and central Jakarta./.
