Jakarta (VNA) – Indonesia’s state budget for 2019 will focus on maintaining the momentum of prosperity of the people, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani said.

An increase in the allocation of cash assistance distributed through the “Family Hope Programme” will come through promptly for the benefit of the people, she added.

She revealed that the Government has increased the budget to improve human resources in the fields of education and health.

Accordingly, the education budget rose from 440 trillion IDR (31 billion USD) to nearly 500 trillion IDR (around 37.7 billion USD). The health budget also increased from 110 trillion IDR (7 billion USD) to 125 trillion IDR (nearly 10 billion USD).

Meanwhile, the budget for infrastructure rose from 405 trillion IDR (28 billion USD) to 410 trillion IDR (29.3 billion USD).

Foreign capital flow has also begun to enter Indonesia, contributing to improving the balance of payments and reducing the pressure on the rupiah, she said.

In 2019, the Indonesian Government will also give priority to stabilising food prices and job opportunities.

Indonesia’s economic growth is forecast to grow by around 5.15 percent in 2019, while its inflation is expected to be controlled under 3.5 percent, and the rupiah exchange rate will continue to be maintained.

Indonesian President Joko Widodo noted that the realisation of the 2018 state budget showed a sound and credible performance, and the country will continue to concentrate on improving the livelihoods of its people. –VNA
