The Republic of Korea (RoK) and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Sept. 30 wrapped up their first working-level military talks in two years without progress, RoK officials said.

During the two-hour talks in the truce village of Panmunjom, RoK officials requested Pyongyang to admit, apologise and take responsibility for the attack on the Cheonan war ship in March, killing 46 RoK sailors, the RoK’s Defence Ministry said in a statement.

Meanwhile, DPRK officials rejected the findings of a Seoul-led multinational probe and denied its involvement in the incident.

The two sides failed to set a new date for the next round of talks, according to the RoK’s Yonhap News Agency.

The last such military talks between Seoul and Pyongyang were held in October 2008./.
