After the "Tet of Doai region" program proved to be successful in 2022, the People's Committee of Hanoi appointed the Center for Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion to collaborate with the People's Committee of Son Tay town to organize the "Vietnamese Tet village " program in Duong Lam ancient village in 2023.
The guests of the program, which lasts from January 14 to January 15, will consist of ambassadors and embassy staff from various countries in Vietnam, organizations, and international tourists, who will have the opportunity to freely immerse themselves in and experience Vietnamese Tet culture, as well as the traditional Tet market atmosphere in the ancient village.
The distinctive cultural features of Vietnamese Tet such as requesting letters from the Kitchen God, offering incense before the ancestral altar, experiencing making Chung cake, Tet cake, and peeling water lily bulbs... will be introduced firsthand by artisans and experienced people.
Skilled artisans and knowledgeable individuals will provide firsthand introductions to unique cultural elements of Vietnamese Tet, including the practice of asking for letters from an old teacher, offering incense at the ancestral altar, and participating in the making of traditional dishes such as banh chung, banh te, and peeling water lily bulbs.
As a part of the program, international guests will have the opportunity to discover the unique features of this ancient village, including the traditional craft of tofu making, the distinctive architecture of ancient houses, and the rare antique ambiance that cannot be found elsewhere./.
