IPv6-only is an inevitable trend to support the development of the Internet of Things, industrial Internet, 5G/6G deployment, AI, and other emerging technologies. Since 2021, Vietnam has maintained steady growth in IPv6 adoption and has consistently ranked among the leading countries in the transition.

With an IPv6 adoption rate of 65%, Vietnam now ranks among the world’s top 10 countries in deploying next-generation Internet protocols.

Vietnam is aiming to improve and develop its Internet infrastructure to align with the advancement of new technologies, while ensuring safety and sustainability, in order to meet the growing demand for Internet usage.

Solutions, technology applications, and orientations to develop a secure and sustainable Internet infrastructure in Vietnam topped the agenda of the 2024 VNNIC (Vietnam Internet Network Information Centre) Internet Conference in Hanoi on June 7.

The Ministry of Information and Communications has set a target of increasing the usage of Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) to 65-80% by the end of this year, bringing Vietnam into the top 8 for IPv6 usage in the world.

Internet infrastructure in the country is set to receive considerable investment in 2022 to meet users’ growing demand, according to the Dau tu (Vietnam Investment Review) newspaper.

Over 20 years of development, the Internet in Vietnam has made impressive advances, permeating into every part of daily life and changing people’s habits.
