It was forecast that the ancient capital of Thonburi in Bangkok will be inundated in the coming days.

In addition to causing great losses for auto, electronics andagricultural industries, the floodwater also flew into the Grand Palace,the famous pagoda Wat Traimit which is housing a golden Buddha statuteweighing 5.5 tonnes, the Vietnamese food market Talat Noi and Vietnamesepagoda Wat Uphairat Bamrung.

The Pentagon said that theUS’s guided-missile destroyer USS Mustin will stay at Laem Chabang portfor another six days to monitor the situation.

Meanwhile,officials of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) on Oct. 28announced to provide 20,000 insecticide-treated mosquito nets fortemporary shelters and other areas in flood-hit Thailand in a bid toprotect people from dengue fever and other mosquito-borne diseases.

The UNICEF also raised 300,000 USD to help the Thai government deal with the disaster./.
