Those include Foreign Minister Katsuya Okada, Defense Minister Toshimi Kitazawa and Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Minister Seiji Maehara.

Among the new portfolios, Former State Minister in charge of formulating national strategy Yoshito Sengoku has been appointed Chief Cabinet Secretary. Meanwhile, former Deputy Finance Minister Yoshihiko Noda has been promoted to Finance Minister and former Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries Masahiko Yamada to Minister.

Satoshi Arai was given the post of state minister in charge of national strategy and consumer affairs while Renho became state minister in charge of administrative reform, and Koichiro Genba was appointed state minister for civil service reform.

Yoshito Sengoku, the new chief cabinet secretary, said the cabinet members a younger and enthusiastic about their jobs. They are expected to be sworn in at the Imperial Palace on the evening of June 8.

PM Kan has decided to cancel his China visit on the occasion of “Japan Day June 12” at the Shanghai Expo. His first foreign visit in the new position will likely be the G8 Summit slated for June 25 in Canada./.
