Japan provides grants for transport, health projects in Vietnam

The Consulate General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City signed an agreement on October 21 on providing non-refundable aid worth 405,556 USD for five projects in southern Vietnam.

HCM City (VNA) – The Consulate General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City signed an agreement on October 21 on providing non-refundable aid worth 405,556 USD for five projects in southern Vietnam. 

The agreement is part of the the Japanese Government’s non-refund able aid programme for Vietnamese localities. 

The provinces benefiting from the newly-signed agreement were Ca Mau, Long An,Binh Phuoc, Hau Giang and Dong Thap province. 

Accordingly, four bridges will be built in Ca Mau province and three others in Long An province, to facilitate transport, education and socio-economic development of local communities. 

Meanwhile, Binh Phuoc’s provincial general hospital will be provided with ophthalmic equipment to perform cataract operations. HauGiang and Dong Thap province will also receive medical equipment to improve medical services of the localities. 

Addressing the signing ceremony, Japanese Consul General in HCM City Nakajima Satoshi said the Japanese Government will continue to support infrastructure development in Vietnam, contributing to deepening the Japan-Vietnam friendship. 

From 1995 to late 2015, the local-level non-refundable aid programme of the Japanese Government supported 164 projects in 26 southern provinces and cities through grants worth over 13.1 million USD. Main fields of support are education, health, agriculture and rural infrastructure.-VNA

UNFPA, KOICA pledge continued support to Vietnam to eliminate gender-based violence
