Japanese Crown Prince Naruhito is on an official visit to Laos from June 29-July 1.
During his stay in Laos , the Crown Prince had meetings with Lao President Chummaly Saynhasone, Vice President Bounnhang Volachit and Prime Minister Thongsin Thammavong.
At the meetings, both sides highlighted friendship and cooperation between the two countries with increase in exchange of high-ranking delegations and Japan ’s official development assistance to Laos .
Crown Prince Naruhito affirmed Japan ’s policy of attaching importance to relations with Laos and thanked Laos for its help to the Japanese people after the earthquake-tsunami disaster last year.
The Lao leaders highly valued the first visit to Laos by the Japanese Crown Prince since the two countries set up diplomatic ties, saying that it contributes to enhancing cooperation between the two countries.
During the visit, the Crown Prince met with Chairman of the Laos-Japan Friendship Association Ponmek Dalaloy and visited cultural establishments in Vientiane .
Laos is the final leg of Crown Prince Naruhito’s three-nation tour of Southeast Asia . Earlier he visited Thailand and Cambodia. -VNA
